REWRITE YOUR VICTIM STORY

Welcome, Commander.

The Circle of Why taught us that the victim story is the ultimate Falsehood — it sacrifices truth for comfort and locks us into helplessness. This is where you interrupt it.

Purpose

To interrupt the victim narrative, shift accountability inward, and identify one specific action you can take to move forward.

Instructions

Pick a recent situation where you felt wronged or helpless. Work through each step to transform the victim narrative into a statement of command.

STEP 1: SPOT YOUR VICTIM STORY

Which of these victim-minded thoughts have you had recently? Write the one that resonates most — or write your own version. "Why me?" / "It's not fair." / "I can't do anything about it." / "They always do this to me."

The thought I keep returning to is...

STEP 2: NAME THE COST

When you think this way, what does it make you feel? (Helpless / Angry / Stuck / Resentful / Other) And what has this story cost you in real terms — a relationship, an opportunity, your peace of mind?

STEP 3: FLIP THE QUESTION

Instead of staying stuck in "Why me?" — turn the question inward. Choose one: "Why am I feeling this right now?" / "What part of this touches something sensitive in my history?" / "What specific outcome am I afraid of?" Write the question you will use — and answer it honestly:

STEP 4: MAKE A CHOICE

Take one small step that shows you're ready to move on — an honest conversation, a boundary, or simply giving yourself permission to let go. One small action I can take to move forward:

Field Note

Every time you flip the story from victim to choice, you weaken the old belief and build a stronger, truer one.
